DCv3 Easy Installation Tutorial

This guide has been written by me for the members of Maxconsole Forums.

It seems some people are still having problems with the setup and installation

of   Despertar del Cementario v3, the universal psp unbricker/downgrader/cfw installation tool.

I decided to make this tutorial as simple as possible for members, especially the n00bs here as I see a lot of threads asking for help, so there really will be nothing too advanced here, just follow this guide and you will be fine.

First of all, you will be needing the following tools.

It is taken as a given that you already have a psp with custom firmware installed and a Pandora battery, it is not covered in this guide on how to setup and aquire these.

Hardware Needed :

PSP with Custom Firmware 3.xx installed

Good quality Memory Stick Pro Duo of at least 1GB  (you can use the unused space for ISO/CSO loading), my preference is Sandisk.

Tools you need to download :

v Despertar del Cementario v3 found here :

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=0XYFQZX4

v Pandora’s GUI v1.5 found here : http://www.megaupload.com/?d=AI1J1OXX

v Sony Official Firmware Updates 1.50, 3.40 and 3.71 found here :

1.50 http://www.psp-hacks.com/download.php?id=4

3.40 http://www.psp-hacks.com/download.php?id=1130

3.71 http://www.psp-hacks.com/download.php?id=1259

v MSINST by Team C+D Here : http://www.megaupload.com/?d=2ND45Q97

On this page we will begin the process, remember to read it correctly!

First of all, format your MS via the PSP, under System Settings > Format MS.

Open Pandora’s GUI v1.5, this tool was actually written for the original Pandora Unbricker, however since it has a nice interface, we will use 2 of it’s functions here to create the new DCv3  Magic Memory Stick.

Now carefully examine the above screencap of Pandora’s GUI v1.5

There are two functions we will use here with this app.

First of all, connect your PSP to your computer with the correct USB cable, and your memory stick inserted, when you have done so, Pandora’s GUI v1.5 will popup a confirmation dialog that you are connected

Just be sure that you have selected the correct drive letter for your PSP’s Memory Stick.

You need to format the memory stick logically, using the format function of Pandora’s GUI v1.5 under Stage 1 : Formatting.

Once this is done, remove the memory stick from your PSP and disconnect the usb via the XMB.

Restart the PSP.

Turn back on your PSP and reconnect to your PC via USB once more.

Here is where we copy the needed files to your Memory Stick in order to create the DCv3 Magic Memory Stick.

Copy the despertar_cementario folder from the archive you downloaded to the ms0:\PSP\GAME\ directory, see below (ms0:\ being the memory stick root folder)

dcv3 dir.jpg

Next, we need  to rename the Offical Sony Eboots we downloaded earlier to the correct filenames for the DCv3 Installer as follows :

1.50 EBOOT.PBP to 150.PBP

3.40 EBOOT.PBP to 340.PBP

3.71 EBOOT.PBP to 371.PBP

Once you are done with the renaming, copy them to your memory stick root ms0:\  see belowdcv3dir2.jpg

With that done, disconnect your PSP from USB and run the DCv3 installer from the XMB, you will find it under GAME > MEMORY STICK

When the installer is done, it will shut down the psp.

Remove the Memory Stick and re-insert it.

Now all we need to do is copy the IPL created by the DCv3 installer from the Memory Stick to the same folder as MSINST by Team C+D, just extract the archive you downloaded to C Drive root, ie C:\msinst and copy the file msipl.bin to the same folder, then open command prompt on your PC from Start > Run >cmd

With the command prompt window open, change directories to the msinst

Folder you just created using the cd command  as follows :

cd C:\msinst  , then using this command, msinstpsp drive letter”

msipl.bin just substitute your drive letter without the quotes, eg PSP drive   letter is G it would be msinst G msipl.bin

  AS per below image

If done correctly you will get a prompt similar to the window below:

This can vary according to your PC setup, Memory Stick brand and so on, however, as long as you get the Are You Sure ? [Y] response, you know you have succeeded! Type Y and Hit Enter to proceed, you should now get the prompt  >>> WRITE MS BOOT CODE

Congratulations! You made your DCv3 Stick Successfully!

You can now delete the 150.PBP and 340.PBP, as they are not needed in the function of the DCv3 Stick!
